Things You Should Know about Warranty!

All of us as customers, unaware of most of the terms and conditions of our manufacturers, want to purchase products that come with a warranty. Here is something we should all know about a warranty.

What is the Magnuson-Moss Act?

The United States enacted a set of Federal laws after the Magnuson Moss Act. Enacted in 1975, these laws were implemented to protect the rights of the consumers.

Most of us as consumers are oblivious to the intentions of the terms and conditions of a warranted product. We are either ill-informed or we are not aware of all the subject matter that concerns the warranty on the product. With the Magnuson Moss Act coming into place, the federal statutes that govern the warranties on products were also modified.

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act provides the consumers with reasonable and effective remedies for any breach of warranty.

What does the Act provide?

The purpose of the act is to provide the citizens of the USA with certain consumer rights. To list the major purpose of the Magnuson Moss Act, here are a few of them:

1. It provides an obligation to the manufacturers to disclose the warranty on products in simple and readily understandable language.
2. There can be no use of any ambiguous statement in the terms and conditions.

3. The terms and conditions have to be completely and fully disclosed. There should be no disclaimers to mislead warranties that unduly benefit the manufacturers out of the pockets of the consumers.

This Act was an attempt of an informal dispute settlement between the consumers and manufacturers. The remedy of the conventional method of a suit is still available to the consumers. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act is an attempt by the federal government to protect consumers from the misconduct of the manufacturer.
