How does Better Business Bureau’s Auto Line resolve my Lemon vehicle claim?

If you have bought a car or taken a new one on the lease and found that it has got major problems and have to get the repair done- you are eligible for the vehicle’s replacement or return of purchase amount or lease, price under Lemon Vehicle Law. An option one can use to resolve the issue is by using Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) Auto Line. It is a program for dispute resolution.

How Does BBB Auto Line Work?

The BBB Auto Line sends your application to the manufacturer and looks into the matter as and when needed. Following are the steps of the process:

1. Get in touch with BBB and provide the following details: your name, address, and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Also, provide the vehicle’s model number and vehicle’s manufacturing year; and a summary of the issue.

2. As soon as the information is received, you will get a notification about the same. Often, you need to provide more information like a Xerox of the vehicle’s registration or Customer Claim Form.

3. After this, BBB  informs the manufacturer about your claim and starts an investigation thereafter.

4. Then, you might receive a call from the manufacturer’s representative to talk about the settlement.  You can communicate with the manufacturer directly. You may also look for a Dispute Resolution expert from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

5. How to find out if you should accept the resolution of the BBB's negotiation? You must be aware of the solutions you are eligible to get under Lemon Vehicle Law.

6. You may move on with arbitration if you don’t find the offer satisfactory. You might need to submit records of service/ repair and copies of communication with dealers and representatives. Also, submit proof of the issue.

If you are not happy with the process, there is nothing to worry about. You can stop it then and there. In many cases, consumers receive a decent settlement amount and the problem ends. If this is not your case, you should get in touch with an attorney instead of following the case yourself through BBB Autoline.
