Can You Use the BBB Auto line to Resolve Your Lemon Law Claims?

One of the biggest disappointments for any car buyer is discovering that their vehicle is a lemon. If you ever end up with a lemon vehicle, you may be eligible for a replacement of the vehicle or a refund of the purchase or lease price under Lemon Law.

Another option that can help car owners is Better Business Bureau’s BBB Auto Line program for dispute resolution.

This blog looks at using BBB auto line for your lemon law claim.

The Auto Line program is a free service for consumers. It presents your claim to the respective manufacturer and follows up as needed. The basic steps of the process are as follows:

1 - Contact the BBB and provide your name, address, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle, the model, make, and year of the vehicle, and a brief description of the problem.

2 - You may be required to provide additional information such as a Customer Claim Form or a copy of the vehicle’s registration.

3 - The manufacturer will be notified of your claim, and the BBB will begin an investigation.

4 – A manufacturer representative will contact you to discuss a settlement. You could choose to work directly with the manufacturer or request a Dispute Resolution Specialist from the BBB.

If you are not satisfied with the settlement offer, you can proceed with arbitration. At this point, you will be required to provide records, correspondences with agents or representatives, photographs, and other evidence of the issue.

Wrap up

If the Auto Line program cannot resolve your claim quickly, you can enlist the services of an experienced Lemon Law attorney. Allen Stewart attorneys are experts in lemon law cases and can assist you with your state’s lemon law requirements.
